The latest build appears to have messed up the Taskbar (including Start)

Almost as if a redraw is being performed through the middle of it.
I am noticing this on a couple skins (Arrow and XBOX 360 is real noticible)

These were fine before the 5.01RC load.

Update your video drivers to the latest Catalyst 6.3  http://www.ati.com/online/mobilecatalyst/
on Mar 24, 2006
Check that you have not set wbconfig to make the taskbar small.

Same problem here with latest wb version. Thinking this might be related to ati drivers? using laetst catalyst 6.3 drivers. but this problem didnt occur until teh last 2 versions of w.b. beta and w.b. 5.01 so it's one or the other that's causing it I believe.

I have Mobility Cat 6.3 drivers on an X700 card in my laptop... I don't have these issues.  Danimator, do you have a 9000 card in your rig like the OP?

Nope, my vid card is an x550 radeon pci-x. I use th Vista wb skin, so maybe it's an issue with skins that use transparent taskbar or something? No idea...Hope this gets fixed soon.

Cant install those drivers - it fails to load (damn it DELL OLD BOX).....

I can tell you this worked before - so something in the latest build caused it

What do you mean you can't load the drivers?  Are you using the direct link I provided above or the one on ATI's site.  If you're going to ATI's site and using the mobility download there (which tests your laptop before you can actually download the driver package) it will never work.  Use the link I posted above... if it's an ATI chipset it will install.

You have to understand the ATI Mobility 9000 chip - and its driver -

Ati doesnt support the 9000 - and drivers have to be built from the Manufacturer.

I got the latest version (11-08-2005- and same results.

I will perform a system restore - and try your link listed above.

My curiosity is why these worked before the last release

Citizen JRSCCivic98 -

Seems many notebooks use proprietary driver sets that can't be updated with generic drivers. I have a Fujitsu Lifebook that fits that description - even using Patje's ModTool, newer Cat drivers just won't install. It's very frustrating. It may have to do with the particular hardware - my rig supports hardware acceleration of constant alpha blending but not per-pixel - and the manufacturer has protected it from being "damaged" by us "users."
